2026 NIGERIA POLICE DAY
The Center for Human Rights and Accountability Network (CHRAN), joins other human rights groups, civil society organizations and critical stakeholders across the Nigerian state to felicitate the Inspector General of Police, IGP Olatunji Rilwan Disu on the occasion of the National Police Week ahead of the celebration of the Nigeria Police Day on April 7, 2026.
The Center wishes to congratulate the Commissioner of Police, Akwa Ibom State, CP Baba Mohammed Azare and members of the Akwa Ibom Police Command on this historic Week which started on Monday, March 30, 2026 with sanitation exercise across Uyo metropolis and free medical outreach organised by the Akwa Ibom Police Command led by the CP Baba Azare which the Center participated.
The activities of the Week continued on Tuesday, March 31, 2026, with a Walkanthon by 6:00 a.m. from the State Police Headquarters, Ikot Akpanabia, Uyo, and terminated at Ibom Plaza, Uyo, witnessing a large turnout of stakeholders and citizens of Akwa Ibom State in solidarity with the Nigeria Police Force.
The CHRAN notes with commendation the community policing approach adopted by CP Baba Azare, which has culminated into achieving a high rate of crime reduction in Akwa Ibom state under his watch as the Commissioner of Police.
The Center will continue to partner the Nigeria Police Force, particularly the Akwa Ibom State Command and other security agencies, with a view to ensuring that the state is safe and secure for all Nigerians.
Congratulations to the Nigeria Police Force.
