RIGHTS GROUP LAUDS PROMOTION OF ARMY OFFICERS IN UYO

A foremost internationally recognised human rights cum civil society organisation in Nigeria under the auspices of Center for Human Rights and Accountability Network (CHRAN), has lauded the promotion of six senior officers of the Nigerian Army from the rank of Major to Lieutenant Colonel.

The Center made the commendation through its Director, Otuekong Franklyn Isong while speaking at the investiture ceremony of the event at the 2 Brigade, Mbiokporo Cantonment in Uyo, Akwa Ibom State on Tuesday, 7th April, 2026.

The rights group stated that the promotion exercise was well-deserved elevation meant to reward the hard-work of those promoted, adding that the reward will go a long way to further boost the morale and performance of the officers and men of the Nigerian Army while increasing confidence, enthusiasm, motivation and happiness in the Nigerian military across the country.

Speaking during the decoration exercise, the Commander of the 2 Brigade, Brigadier General N.E. Okoloagu stated that the promotion exercise was as a result of thorough screening of the officers to ensure that the elevation was well-deserved. He noted that the exercise was a routine exercise to motivate and reward excellence among the Nigerian Army. He urged the newly promoted officers to live above board and to continue to improve in their services to the country through the Nigerian Army.

The newly promoted officers are: Lt. Col. E.A. Kukah, Lt. Col. A.A. Adebisi, Lt. Col. O.J. Ewe, Lt. Col. S.O. Abodunrin, Lt. Col. M.U. Tello, and Lt. Col. C. Chinda.

Other senior officers at the ceremony were: the Chief of Staff, the Garrison Commander, and the Commanding Officer 6 Battalion, Abak.

The event was witnessed by the families and friends of the newly promoted officers including members of the civil society cum human rights organisations in Akwa Ibom State such as the Director, Center for Human Rights and Accountability Network (CHRAN), Otuekong Franklyn Isong, and the Executive Director, Vital Partners, Comrade (Dr.) Victor David among others.
