CHRAN To Host 2025 Annual CSOs Conference In Akwa Ibom
All is now set for the hosting of the 2025 Annual Civil Society Organisations (CSOs) Conference in Akwa Ibom State by an internationally recognised human rights organisation in Nigeria, the Center for Human Rights and Accountability Network (CHRAN), in conjunction with other human rights groups, civil society organisations and Non-governmental organisations in Nigeria.
The event will hold on Monday, 6th October, 2025, by 10:00 a.m. at the CHRAN Conference Hall, No. 15 Akpa Ubeh Street (by Ibom Hall) off Babangida Avenue, Uyo, Akwa Ibom State, Nigeria with the theme: “THE STATE OF LOCAL GOVERNMENT ADMINISTRATION IN NIGERIA USING AKWA IBOM STATE AS A CASE STUDY” under the distinguished chairmanship of the former National Legal Adviser of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Hon. Emmanuel Enoidem, SAN.
The Keynote Speaker will be the Chief Lecturer, Akwa Ibom State Polytechnic, Ikot Osurua and Founder, Uyo Book Club, Dr. (Mkpisong) Udeme Nana, while the Special Guest of Honour is the Executive Director, Projects, Niger Delta Development Commission (NDDC), Rt. Hon. Sir Victor Antai.
The Guest of Honour is the Chairman of the House Committee on Health and Member representing Ibiono Ibom State Constituency in the Akwa Ibom State House of Assembly, Obong (Hon.) Moses Essien. Father of the Day is a renowned Professor of Communication Arts, Prof. Desmond Wilson, while the Mother of the Day is the Executive Chairman of Ibeno Local Government Area, Hon. (Deaconess) Gloria Ekah-Effiong.
The theme of this year’s conference has being carefully considered as apt, on the heels of the 1st Year Anniversary of the Chairmen of the 31 Local Government Councils of Akwa Ibom State; the 38th Anniversary of Akwa Ibom State, and 65th Independence Anniversary of Nigeria. The CHRAN anticipates that the Conference will beam searchlight on the activities of elected Local Government officials in Akwa Ibom State and examine grassroot governance with a view to deepening democracy at the grassroot level and facilitating good governance, transparency and accountability in the administration of the Local Government System in Nigeria.
The CHRAN has, over the years, been hosting public lectures, seminars, conferences and symposia on relevant thematic areas as part of its civic responsibility towards the sustenance of democracy in Nigeria as a foremost pro-democracy, human rights cum civil society organisation that fought for the enthronement of democracy in Nigeria.
Participation at the event is strictly on invitation.
